Improvements Underway at Bridgetts

As promised, Councillor Gavin Webb has worked hard to see improvements at Bridgetts Pool and the Local Nature Reserve in Trent Vale.

During his election campaign, Gavin Webb promised to work with residents, Embreys Fishing Club and City Council officers to improve the conditions around the pool and Local Nature Reserve.

Gavin is glad to report that work is now underway to cut back the shrubs; improve the access path adjacent to St Peters field; improve and repair the main path around the fishing pool; improve the drainage from the pool to Lyme Brook; and much more.

Much of the money to carry out these improvements have been paid for using the Ward Budget - a pot of money that your local councillors directly decide upon.

Gavin continues his work to improve the area but his ultimate aim is to transfer the entire site from council control to local management through a 'Friends of Bridgetts' society which will consist of, in the first instance, the Fishing Club and a local conservation group.

His hope is that the groups within the society will become self-financing and run by local people.

If you would like to be a part of this positive scheme - by becoming an active member of the Fishing Club or a local conservation group, please contact Gavin today.
